Prabagaran Wins Sri Lanka Open by 2 strokes
K. Prabagaran from Nuwara Eliya defended his title successfully by shooting five under par 66 to overhaul overnight leader by one, Mithun Perera and convincingly stretch his lead by two for a grand aggregate total of 16 under par, to clinch the Trophy and title of ‘Champion Solar Therm Sri Lanka Open 2014’. Mithun Perera starting the final round one stroke ahead of Praba was quickly overtaken by Praba who started with a birdie on the first hole and on the 5th to take the lead but a birdie on the 8th hole brought Mithun to tie on 13 under with Praba on the 8th hole ( 62nd ) creating much excitement with excellent Golf followed by an eager enthusiastic crowd. Praba kept his calm and continued on the closing holes birdying the 12th, 14th, 15th to establish a clear lead and made his first bogey on the 17th, only to recover the dropped shot with a classic birdie on the 18th to clinch the trophy and defend his title…

Mithun Perera  AT FORE shoots  5 under 
As the Solar Therm Sri Lanka Open 2014, entered the third day Mithun Perera improved on his first two round scores and scored a five under par 66 to lead the 40 players after the cut-off was administered. Defending champ Prabagaran maintained his composure and returned a three under par to be one stroke behind the leader Mithun on a total of 11 under par. Lalith Kumara too returned a five under par to share the honour of carding the best score for the day with Mithun, to climb the leader board at one over par in 8th place. Dharma the Indian Pro held on to the leading trio three strokes off the leader.
Anura Rohana and Zen Dharmaratne returned even Par scores to remain in 4th and 5th place respectively.

Prabagaran Leads Day 2 in Solar Therm Sri Lanka Open

Defending Champion K. Prabagaran, maintained his consistency scoring another 4-under par in the second round of the Solar Therm Sri Lanka Open 2014, played at the Royal Colombo Golf Club Course in Colombo. Prabagaran joint leader of four after round one, placed himself at the top of the standings on eight under par, one stroke ahead of Mithun Perera and M. Dharma of India tied in second place on seven under par. Anura Rohana returned another two under to be placed in 4th place on 4 under par. Zen Dharmaratne sponsored by CML MTD Walkers Group scored two under to be placed in 5th on 3 under par, five strokes off the lead.

Four Under Par – Four Way Lead after Round 1 In “Solar Therm Sri Lanka Open 2014” Defending Champion K. Prabagaran , Mithun Perera, M. Dharma from India and M. Arumugam shared a first day lead by two strokes from R.A. Anura Rohana the seven time winner chasing a record 8th win in the ‘Solar Therm Sri Lanka Open’. Sisira Kumara, Tissa Chandradasa and Zen Dharmaratne scored one under par each to lie in joint sixth place, three strokes behind the joint leaders. The ‘Solar Therm Sri Lanka Open’ player list was pruned to 80 from the original 116 entries, after the Pre-Qualify round played on Monday. There were 66 automatic qualifiers. Much interest was generated with the participation of overseas Professionals and apart from Dharma of India and Zen Dharmaratne, Indian Sandeep Syal, Bangladeshi M.D. Sayum and Swedish Andreas Adler scored over par, lying further down the field. Cream of pro golfers for Sri Lanka OpenA galaxy of professional golfers will be seen in action at the ‘Solar Therm Sri Lanka Open 2014’ golf championship to be held at the Ridgeways course from January 27 to 30. Sri Lanka’s top professional golfers in the likes of Mithun Perera, Anura Rohana, K. Prabagaran, Thangaraja and Vijitha Bandara will play alongside five professional golfers from India and two from Bangladesh. Mithun Perera is in the nick of forms losing the top prize at a professional tour of India only last week. But Anura Rohana, who has won the Sri Lanka Open seven times has also been on the Indian pro tour for the past several years. However, they have been true ambassadors for Sri Lanka and have been able to talk to the Indian professional golfer to take part in this tournament this year.
