The Mercedes Trophy Sri Lanka Country Finals 2014 was sponsored by Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) for the twenty fourth year. This time the tournament was held at Nuwara Eliya, the refreshingly cool "little England" as the world outside says, at the picturesque Nuwara-Eliya Golf Club on Saturday 21st June 2014.

The Nuwara Eliya Golf Club is as old as the grand hotel and has a rich heritage in its own right.

How to get there: Walk from the Hotel for a warm up  Acourse 6200 feet above see level.So be prepared due to low pressure you will not get the same  performance  as see level level.More ball distance will be reduced Why -cool air is denser .If you are a pro this is an ideal course for training.

The course offers an unending joy of golf, whatever the score may be and that's exactly what the Merce players did.

Special mention of the Captain of the Nuwara Eliya Golf Club fondly known among the golfing fraternity as "Kitto", who tirelessly volunteered to make this event a very memorable one. Without frills let this be known to all. 

He ensured the course is in the best possible state, which was confirmed by many of the tournaments participants. Greens were unexpectedly too fast to many,  giving very low scores for the day. Caddies were allocated on the basis of a draw rather than the familiar method of players selecting their own caddies. This made the game more transparent and equal to all. Event procedure during the day of play was given in the evening prior to the tournament day at the Grand Hotel and was announced as a speech though he said says it is not a speech. Repeatedly.

The winners list will be off to Australia for more golf and fun. Well done chaps! Of course the committee of the cub was all the way behind the captain and ensured everything went smoothly and as expected. Well done Nuwara Eliya Golf Club.
