TO 25TH AUGUST 2013 AT THE VICTORIA GOLF & COUNTRY RESORT
The second oldest Amateur Championship in the world
next to the British Amateur Championshipcomes back to the picturesque Victoria
Golf & Country Club in Digana, Kandy which is rated amongst the top 100
courses in the world. The main Partners
this year are Sri
Lanka Insurance Corporation, Metropolitan, Hemas, DIMOS ,Etisalat, GolfPlus,
and Audi,. Official soft drink Partner is
Coca-Cola with Official TV Channel being CSN.
This year top Amateur Golfers from India (ladies and
gents teams), Pakistan, Bangladesh and Thailand(ladies and gents teams) and Sri
Lanka (ladies and gents teams) will be participating. The reigning champion Sri Lanka’s N.
Thangaraja will not be participating this year as he has turned Professional
like his predecessor Mithun Perera. This
year’s top favorites from Sri Lanka are top Amateur Vijitha Bandara who plays
on his home course along with N. Rangaof the Royal Colombo Golf Club.
This year India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Thailand
along with Teams from Sri Lanka will vie for the Parlakamedi Trophy in the
International Team event on the 20th and 21stand the Zia
HulHaq Trophy between Sri Lanka and Pakistan will also be played on the 21st.
The Ladies Championship will be wide open with current
holder G. Badwall from India unable to visit Sri Lanka to defend her title.
